November 1st--Blogging Month
Here it is, the wee hours of November 1st. Time change happens overnight which means it will be 7am when I wake up at 8am. Cool. I had trick or treaters tonight even though my porch light was off. Two were in costume, the youngest, 5yrs or so, had no costume. There were 6 high schoolers or so. Completely not appropriate for the holiday. Oh yes, and they rang the doorbell about a jillion times. Against my gut reaction to NOT go to the door, there I went. I was trying to get in the Halloween spirit. It just wasn't happening this year.
The first year I haven't been torn between taking the kids around the neighborhood and staying home to pass out candy. I hope this year is an anomaly. I thought I would be back on track this year, after the 1st year post separation came to a close in June. I guess I need more time. I want it all and I want it now.

What Am I Going To Be When I Grow Up? #1
Today I received a rejection letter for a job that I thought was perfect for me. The interview went well and the people were wonderful. Each day I grew less interested in getting the job. When I started thinking about childcare for my 3 kiddies all for a part-time job, the opportunity seemed less than optimal for me. I've been struggling with what am I going to be for most of my life. This is a topic I plan to revisit from time-to-time. So, here goes....
Jobs I've Seriously Considered (and when I considered them):
veterinarian (junior high)
farmer (post-college, when I've lived in cities, far from the countryside)
pharmacist (high school)
Agricultural Extension Agent (since my undergrad days)
forester (undergrad)
school teacher (after my 3rd child was born)
soil scientist (since my post-grad days)
lab technician (after earning my BS)
writer (on and off throughout my life)
zookeeper (when I was young)
art teacher (when my eldest child was in kindergarten)
archaeologist (ever since I played make-believe)
travel agent (when I moved from Wisconsin to Virginia)
painter (since I painted the "big barn" when I lived at home)
organic direct market farmer (ever since I've been anticipating re-entering the job market)
restaurant owner (basically a dream my husband and I like to discuss)
researcher (since I was one at NC State)
stay-at-home-mom (I've know I wanted this career ever since I thought about having children)
event planner (since I left the job market)
organic inspector (ever since I learned about the career back when I lived in Madison, Wisconsin)
